Packaging Advice
When packaging your items..
Please DO...
- use double-walled, durable boxes for larger items.
- use appropriately sized packaging for it's contents.
- pack items with high-quality cushioning to prevent them from moving.
- use heavy-duty double-layered boxes for fragile items.
- use strong tape (or strapping) to secure your boxes.
- place fragile items towards the center of boxes and cushion well on each side.
- store liquid in containers that will not leak.
- wrap semi-liquids or greasy/strong-smelling substances in grease resistant paper, after sealing with adhesive tape.
- securely seal powders and fine grains in strong plastic bags, the pack in rigid fibreboard boxes.
- use a label with an "arrow-up" symbol for non-solid materials.
- ensure any goods sold in attractive packaging are suitably packed for shipping.
- use triangular tubes instead of cylindrical ones for rolled paperwork.
- use clear, uppercase text when writing labels for packages.
- cover any sharp edges of items in relevant, strong material that will not come off in transit.
- remove all previous labels and stickers when reusing a box.
Please DO NOT...
- use bags made of fabric or cloth
- use excessive tape or other methods to seal packages as customs may need to inspect any shipment.
- use rope or cellophane tape to seal packages.
- neglect to appropriately package goods marked with "Handle with Care" or "Fragile" labels simply because the package has these labels.
Help - Restricted and Prohibited Items
Prohibited Items
The following items must not be sent through our services under any circumstances as they are strictly prohibited from shipment. Failure to comply with this may result in prosecution, large fines, and imprisonment.
- Aerosol cans and sprays
- Animal skins; Furs; Any animal parts; Ivory and ivory products
- Box with Hazardous label - any items sent with a Hazardous label attached will be classed as such. Therefore, please do not re-use old hazardous boxes.
- Dangerous good. Including (but not limited to) explosives; fireworks; radioactive materials; deactivated or replica weapons and munitions; firearms; swords; knives; weapons.
- Engines; Generators; Gearboxes; or any part containing or having contained oil/petrol unless flushed through.
- Fire extinguishers
- Life jackets
- Food items (USA and Canada)
- Goods moving under ATA Carnet and all temporary exports and imports; goods moving under FCR, FCT and CAD (Cash Against Document)
- Hazardous materials. Including (but not limited to) Paint; adhesives; chemicals; flammable resins; solvents; liquids; compressed air; items containing any gases.
- Household goods containing flammable or corrosive liquids, such as overn or drain cleaners.
- Live animals.
- Magnets or items containing ferro-magnetic material.
- Mobile phone with sim card
- Money; keys; negotiable items; payment cards.
- Personal effects.
- Pornographic materials.
- Tobacco and tobacco products; drugs; medicines.
- Wet or lithium batteries (not including dry cell)
Restricted Items
In addition to the above prohibited items, the following list contains items that we have deemed unsuitable for shipment using our services, and are therefore restricted. Any of these items being sent may result in surcharges, delays or confiscation by authorities where appropriate. No transit cover or guarantees whatsoever will apply to these items. These items are sent at your own risk.
- Articles of exceptional value. Including (but not limited to) works of art; antiques; precious stones; gold and silver.
- Furniture (unless flatpacked)
- Glass; ceramic; plaster; marble; china; stone; resin; any item containing these materials.
- Jewellery over £250.00.
- Laptops; monitors; computers; televisions.
- Passports; birth certificates.
- Perishable goods.
- Plants; seeds; flowers.
- Unaccompanied baggage/suitcases.
- White goods. Including (but not limited to) fridges, ovens, microwaves, washing machines, dish washers.
We will also not accept anything that may be dangerous or hazardous to handling staff.
To comply with strict regulations we will not carry any substances classified as dangerous in the latest edition of the IATA publication.
Also prohibited are: Shipments with inherent vice; Shipments which by their nature are likely to soil, impair or damage persons, merchandise or equipment; Goods the carriage of which is prohibited by law in the country of origin, transit or destination; Goods which attract excise duty or which require special facilities, safety precautions or permits.
It is the sender's responsibility to comply with current government regulations or laws applicable in each country. Not all commodities can be shipped to all countries.
